US EC strike update – ILA announce a tentative agreement

We have received notice this morning from Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) that the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) have reached a tentative agreement and work will resume effective immediately.

Following is a joint statement which has just been released by ILA :

“The International Longshoremen’s Association and the United States Maritime Alliance, Ltd. have reached a tentative agreement on wages and have agreed to extend the Master Contract until January 15, 2025 to return to the bargaining table to negotiate all other outstanding issues.

Effective immediately, all current job actions will cease and all work covered by the Master Contract will resume.”

Please note that as mentioned above the contract is now set to end on January 15 2025 and we expect that strike action could be long and drawn out this time. Should you be able to bring forward any ordering, we suggest you do so to avoid this period as much as you can.
