Melbourne/Brisbane/Newcastle Ports affected by protests
Attention: Shipping Manager
We have been informed that Melbourne, Brisbane and Newcastle Ports have affected by coordinated climate protests.
Large delays have been caused, as the protests have blocked busy motorways with access in and out of the ports.
Blockade Australia has said in a statement that the protests are part of a “coordinated mobilisation in response to Australia’s facilitation of the climate and ecological crisis and its active blocking of impactful action towards a safe climate.”
Brisbane Ports has advised that all gate times have been extended due to the congestion.
Latest reports suggest the protesters have now been cleared and operations have resumed. Delays are clearing but still expected at all three ports.
We will keep you updated with any further information.
