Industry Update December 2019

Attention: Shipping Manager

IMO 2020 – Low Sulfur Fuel Recovery on LCL shipments

Further to our previous advice, ocean carriers have already taken steps to comply with the new international emission standards by switching to low Sulphur fuel or investing in scrubber-fitted or LNG running vessels.

The compliance with regulations comes at a significant cost and our contract carriers have started to introduce fuel surcharge increases. To cover these costs, Dieterle & Victory will be implementing an LCL IMO2020 surcharge, with effect from vessels sailing 1st December 2019,  to/from Australia/New Zealand as follows:-

IMPORT

 USA/Canada to Australia/NZ – USD8.00 w/m

Europe to Australia/NZ –  USD10.00 w/m

Asia to Australia/NZ  – USD5.00 w/m

New Zealand to Australia/NZ USD3.00 w/m

EXPORT

Australia to USA/Canada – USD8.00 W/M

Australia to Europe – USD9W/M

Australia to Asia – USD2.50W/M

Australia to New Zealand -AUD4.50W/M

Australia to Fiji, Noumea – AUD4.50W/M

As advised in our broadcast last month, IMO Surcharges on FCL shipments will be passed on at cost, based on shipping line/tradelane used.  Rest assured, Dieterle & Victory will always choose the most cost effective method to ship your freight.

Increase to Port Infrastructure Surcharge from January 1st 2020

Despite protests from industry, the wharves have announced an increase to their fees yet again from 1st January 2020.  From this date, the port infrastructure surcharge will be increased in the ports of Sydney/Melbourne and Brisbane as follows-

AUD110 per container

LCL will increase to AUD5w/m.
