DP World Industrial Action Update (Sydney) and Closure of Qantas Freight Terminal in Melbourne

DP World Sydney Industrial Action:

Further to our previous notice on MUA’s Industrial action at DP World Terminals across Australia, we have received further updates for Sydney Terminal. From 4th August till 1st September, there will be three periodic work stoppages every day for one hour each at 5 am, 1 pm and 9 pm. Due to these work stoppages, no time slots will be issued for 4 am, 5 am, 12 pm, 1 pm, 8 pm and 9 pm every day.

We have already seen some delays last week due to bad weather and port congestion. Now a closure of 6 time slots in each 24 hour period will likely cause further delays. Additionally, no slots at 4 am and 5 am from DP World will result in difficulties with early morning deliveries and possible additional costs. If you are concerned about any of your upcoming shipments, please contact your Customer Service Representative.

Qantas Freight Terminal Melbourne Closure:

In another development, we have just been advised that Qantas Freight terminal in Melbourne has temporarily closed. They were advised to pause their operations by Victorian Regulatory Authorities. We will keep you updated as we hear further on this matter.
