Delays at DP World and Patrick Terminal – MELBOURNE

Attention: Shipping Manager

  • DP World Terminal

We have been advised of significant delays that are being experienced at DP World Terminal in Melbourne as a result of severe weather conditions on Friday 29th October 2021. A large amount of container storage was disrupted at various container handling facilities around Melbourne. DP World was one of the terminals that were critically impacted.

DP World deployed outside crane crews to rectify this situation however, in doing so, container locations were upset and DP World has found it difficult to regain control of their storage location system.  Consequently, there are extended delays with processing times of vehicles through this facility, currently taking 4 to 5 hours per vehicle, compared to an average of 60 minutes per vehicle in normal times. This is causing delays when dropping off and collecting containers from this depot. As a result, container deliveries to customers will be adversely affected due to these additional delays.

The terminal expects these delays will continue for the next couple of days at a minimum.

  • Patrick Terminal

In addition, as per our previous notices, industrial action at Patrick Terminal in Melbourne continues to be extended with multiple work stoppages. These strike actions are causing significant delays and disruptions to terminal operations as well as container pickups and deliveries. Delays are expected to continue over the upcoming weeks.

If you have concerns regarding any container deliveries, please do not hesitate to contact your customer service representative.

We will keep you updated with any further information.
