Canadian Rail Strike
Attention: Shipping Manager
We have received notification that a potential rail stoppage could commence from 22nd August in Canada.
The TCRC union and the railways, Canadian National (CN) and Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC), remain at odds as the deadline for reaching an agreement approaches. The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference on Sunday served a 72-hour strike notice, saying the union will walk out at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, barring a last-minute labor agreement.
Industry experts say unless there is an immediate and definite resolution to the labour conflict, CN will have no choice but to continue the phased and progressive shutdown of its network.
We will keep you updated with any further information.
