New South Wales/Victoria Border Closure
Attention: Shipping Manager
As you would have recently heard regarding the NSW and Victorian Border closure due to a surge in COVID 19 cases in Victoria, Transport for NSW is trying their level best to minimize the impact of this closure on transportation of goods between the two states. We have received recent updates from Freight and Trade Alliance on how Transport for NSW is planning to do this. Initial steps will involve creation of a new permit for workers which are deemed critical in Freight and Transport sector and will allow them to move between NSW and Victoria to perform their duties, as long as their employers have COVID-19 Safety Plan in place and won’t require them to go into self-isolation. It is expected that this permit will be available live through Service NSW by COB today. Workers holding these permits are advised to be extra vigilant to minimize physical contact and to ensure social distancing is practiced.
Despite these measures, it is expected that some delays might take place due to certain road closures or requirements to take alternative routes.
Dieterle & Victory will endeavour to keep you updated with the latest information involving the shipping industry.
