Typhoon Update 4

We have received notice of more typhoon activity bringing severe weather, expected to affect major ports in China.
Typhoons Saudel, Narra and Gaenari appear to be heading towards south China, bringing severe weather such as high winds, heavy rain and flooding, and may have impacts on major ports such as Shanghai and Ningbo.

  1. Typhoon Saudel is expected to make landfall in China no earlier than 25 August, bringing the most severe weather.
  2. Typhoon Narra is expected to affect south China.
  3. Typhoon Gaenari is expected to bring heavy wind in Shanghai.

These typhoons follow Super Typhoon Dolphin and Typhoon Bavi, which caused delays to containership capacity in North Asia throughout July and early August with temporary closure measures and suspended vessel operations, causing widespread schedule disruptions.
We expect to see more delayed vessels, port closures, interruptions, schedule changes, omissions, trucking delays and container availability issues as the typhoons progress and as ports clear the backlog.

Please note that this may cause delays to shipments. If you have any concerns relating to a shipment, please contact your customer service representative.

We will keep you updated with any further information.
