Congestion at Empty Parks and AQIS Depots

We have been informed from varying sources of huge congestion once again at empty parks, with some rejecting empty containers for dehire due to capacity issues. This is usually not known until the driver arrives at the empty park.  Subsequently, carriers are having to arrange to store empty containers at their yards or others, resulting in additional costs incurring.

Numerous delays are still happening with fumigation, tailgates and quarantine inspections.  Even when fumigation is completed, drivers are having to wait from 1-3 hours to collect the containers at the depot due to capacity issues and having to pull the containers out of stacks 15 deep.

With all of the above, additional costs are being incurred and carriers cannot absorb these and will pass these on.  Similarly, we will have no option but to pass on any additional costs received.
