USA West Coast labor negotiations – Update
Attention: Shipping Manager
Situation on USA WC:
We have been informed that negotiations around labor contracts on the West Coast have finally had some success, averting significant fallout to the supply chain. Late on Wednesday night, the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) representing the terminals and the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) representing the workers, announced a tentative agreement on a new six-year contract.
Reaching an agreement prior to peak season was crucial for all parties, as work disruptions began affecting ship schedules and container dwell times over the past two weeks. No further details have been released of the agreement yet, as it is still subject to ratification by both parties.
We will keep you updated with any further information.
Best regards,
